Sci-Fi Month 2014

Hello, hello! This month I am participating in Sci-Fi Month 2014. I threw my name in to cover some great Tabletop Games that are themed for the Sci-Fi genre.

Throughout the month I will be posting a series of 4 articles, each dealing with a different aspect of Sci-Fi Tabletop Games. Two of the articles will deal with games based on their mechanics and the other two will deal with thematic types. The field is so huge, I've tried to trim things down to a manageable amount.

For those of you who are new to my blog, I am a blogger who is trying their best to chronicle their emergence as an acknowledged geek. Many of my posts focus on Tabletop Gaming and things I do in my personal life that I find to be geeky and fun.

I write a column for the International Geek Girl Pen Pals Club called Meet Me at the Table, where I include some fun ways to make your game nights a bit more geeky. My goal is to try to interest people in gaming, especially women. It is a field that is overly saturated with men and it is another geek area that needs to reach out to all people. I have a working theory that the sexism in tabletop gaming isn't so much in the games themselves (the art or the elements of the game), but in the game community itself. I am lucky not to experience this in the circles I move in, but I did experience this when I attended GenCon for the first time. By reaching out to the female community, I'm hoping to involve more and more women so that we never have to go to a con and feel psychologically belittled just because we see and understand games differently than men do.

With that being said, I am a tabletop gamer at heart and I live to inspire people to game. So let's get this party started! My first article will be out on Thursday, November 6.

Check out all the other blogs participating in this wonderful event, because goodness know Sci-Fi is one of the BEST genres!

  1. Great! I also play a lot of board and card games and even table top roleplaying but I don't own many science fiction games. I'll look forward to your posts!

I'm also a woman and it's great that you're working to make this field more welcoming to us.
