Elf on the Shelf Hide-and-Seek - December 9

Elfie is starting to get a little bit lurky. Kinda creepy... in that the company she's keeping is kind of... well... hmmm....

The Joy of Gaming: December Challenge 2019 - Day 8: Francis Drake

For some reason, the cover of this game makes it feel intimidating, like it'll be a heavy, stressful game. Surprisingly, it was just another type of game that I enjoy playing! We didn't like the two-player variant that had this mysterious other player who snatched up locations and resources at random. Boo!!! But, funny enough, we had a pretty tight game. If we're keeping track (which my husband is), I'm 5 and he's 4. Robinson Crusoe we both won, since it's a co-op, so we'll both take that. I did, though, really enjoy the game. It wasn't as heavy and scary as I thought it would be. I'm really glad I chose it and we both were able to finally play it.

The Joy of Gaming: December Challenge 2019 - Day 7: Robinson Crusoe

My husband defined today's game as heavy. I found today's game to be refreshing. Where I struggled with Doomtown, this game seemed like a piece of cake. I enjoy cooperative games and we worked together to meet our goals. Lucky for us, the ship saw us and we made it off the island. When I played this, I was barely aware of the time and it felt like it went so fast! We, of course, then just HAD to talk about Ignacy and his genius. This choice was loads of fun. Tomorrow, though... now tomorrow is HEAVY.

The Joy of Gaming: December Challenge 2019 - Day 6: Doomtown Reloaded

I hadn't played this game and my husband hadn't played it in a while. He admitted that this a pleasant surprise. I think I let him down, though. I was really struggling getting into the game. I took the Circus Freaks and I think I regreted it later, because their deck just wasn't my thing. I'd play it again and try a different deck. It's just a lot to keep track of and I couldn't keep influence and control. The poker aspect was neat, but I'm not a poker person, so it was like learning two games at once. And while I am not opposed to dueling games, they're just not my bag. It reminded me of Magic: The Gathering with its long sections of text and attachments and tapping (booting). Like I said, worth another shot, but so far wasn't really my thing.

Elf on the Shelf Hide-and-Seek - December 6

Sometimes your day just requires you to cuddle a Wookie. Elfie was feeling the sadness of the world.
